St Johns Netball Club has approximately 200 players across 20 teams and a NetSet program for 6, 7, 8 yr olds. We play as part of EDNA (Essendon & District Netball Association). Our games are played on a Saturday afternoon at the Riverside Tennis and Netball Centre, Ascot Vale.
Our members come from the north west suburbs of Melbourne including Essendon, Moonee Ponds, Ascot Vale, Travancore, Brunswick, Coburg, Royal Park, Pascoe Vale, Strathmore, Glenroy, Oak Park, Aberfeldie and Maribyrnong.
The club is run by the parents of the children with a clear philosophy:
- St Johns Netball Club fosters a love of the game of netball through participation as a player, coach, umpire, committee member, team manager or as a supporter, all with a view to build a sense of community.
- St Johns Netball Club supports teams made of friendship and social groups, with a view to promote and maintain the sports involvement of young women in our community.
- St Johns Netball Club encourages players, umpires and coaches to develop their netball skills, abide by the rules and to have FUN!
- St Johns Netball Club respectfully acknowledges the traditional custodians of this land - the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung People of the Kulin Nation, their spirits, ancestors, elders and community members past, present and emerging.
- St Johns Netball Club is committed to promoting and protecting the rights of children and preventing abuse from occurring by fostering a culture where children feel safe and empowered. We also seek to ensure the cultural safety of First Nations children, children from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds and children with a disability.
